The Jones Museum is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of its newest publication, a curated collection of Sun Spot columns by Ed Clark from the 1950s and 1960s.
Ed’s columns highlighted the vibrant community life in Jackson, as well as his takes on national and international news, through his unique, Appalachian conversational writing. To celebrate the release, the museum will host an official book launch and exclusive presale event on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 6:30 PM in the Potter Room at the Jackson City Library.

The launch event on September 3rd is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the first opportunity to secure their copies through an exclusive presale, learn more about the research and curation process behind the book, and enjoy light refreshments. Museum representatives will be on hand to discuss the project and the upcoming volume to be published in 2027.
For those unable to attend, details on how to reserve a copy during the presale window will be made available on the museum’s website and social media pages following the event. All proceeds from book sales will directly benefit Jones Museum’s ongoing mission to preserve, protect, and educate the community about our county’s history.
Presale order forms are available on our website and in person at the museum during regular hours. Presale orders received before August 1st will be guaranteed to be available for pick-up at the book launch event on September 3rd. For an additional cost, the museum can ship the book to your address via USPS Media Mail. The cost for shipping 1 book is $6.99, 2 books to the same address is $10.00, and 3 or more books to the same address will be free.
The public is also welcome to purchase a copy that evening, although supplies may be limited, and the museum will be taking additional orders during the event. The hardcover book is $25, and we can accept cash or checks made out to The Lillian E. Jones Museum.
