We’re just over a week away from our Volume 1 book launch.
For decades, Ed Clark’s Sun Spots column was a mainstay in the Jackson paper. His columns engaged with the everyday life of Jackson’s citizens, offered commentary on the happenings around the county, and even weighed in on state, national, and international matters.
His columns offer a comprehensive glimpse into small-town life in Appalachia, told through his unique writing style.
The museum is thrilled to offer Volume 1 of a curated selection of Ed’s columns from the 1950s and 1960s. The hardcover book is currently available for pre-order for $25.00. Pre-orders can be placed in person at the museum during our regular operating hours, or by mail to The Lillian E. Jones Museum Attn: Ashley Aldrich, 75 Broadway Street, Jackson, OH 45640. When mailing your order, please include the following information: Full Name, Date, Mailing Address, a phone number, an email address if you have one, the number of copies you want to order, and a check for the full amount of the order.
If you would like your book shipped, the museum can do that for an additional cost. All books will ship via USPS Media Mail. Shipping 1 book costs $6.99, 2 books to the same address is $10.00, and 3 or more books to the same address is free. You can include your shipping costs with your book payment.
All pre-orders received by Saturday, August 1st are guaranteed delivery by Thursday, September 3rd, for our book launch event.
The museum will continue to take orders after August 1st, but we cannot guarantee your book will arrive by September 3rd. A limited number of copies will be for sale at the book launch, and people are welcome to order a copy as well.
The book launch will take place on Thursday, September 3rd at 6:30 PM in the Potter Room at the Jackson City Library. Attendees will have the first opportunity to learn more about the research and curation process behind the book, and enjoy light refreshments. Museum representatives will be on hand to discuss the project and the upcoming Volume 2 to be published in 2027.

- If you do not wish to pay online, you can mail a check to the museum or drop off your payment in person. Your order is not complete until we receive an order form and payment.
